Beacons in Mortal Shell II

Official Open Beta confirmation that Mortal Shell II includes beacons you can cleanse, plus what is still unverified about checkpoints and upgrades.

Last verified

Beacons are part of Mortal Shell II’s early-game loop. The official Open Beta Steam page states that players can cleanse beacons while exploring the first open-world section.

What is officially confirmed

From the Open Beta store page:

  • Beacons exist in the sequel
  • Players can cleanse them during the opening hours of content
  • They appear alongside optional dungeons, mini-bosses, and Shell possession

That is enough to move this page from pure speculation to Official for the existence and cleanse action. Exact checkpoint rules are still not fully documented on the store page.

What is still unconfirmed

The Steam text does not yet spell out:

  • Whether cleansing a beacon fully restores health / healing charges
  • Whether beacons are used for leveling Shells
  • Whether beacons enable fast travel
  • How many beacons appear in the full game

Until those are verified in-game, do not treat any forum “beacon = bonfire” claim as settled.

Prequel context (inference only)

In Mortal Shell (2020), checkpoint duties were handled by Sester Genessa. Resting restored resources and supported upgrades. It is reasonable to compare beacons to that role, but this remains prequel-based inference, not an official MS2 rulebook.
